Oratory Racquets' Real Tennis East Anglia Tour
Exeat weekend saw a group of 16 pupils make their way to East Anglia for their first racquets tour.
First stop was Prested Hall Rackets club, where the students were able to play Real Tennis, Tennis, Padel Tennis and table tennis. A great afternoon which finished with Oratory School vs. Prested Juniors, Oratory coming out on top. After a long day on court, our next stop was Pizza Express before heading back to the hotel.
Saturday was an early start as we made our way to Cambridge Real Tennis Club. We were made most welcome as Oratory seemed to take over the entire club, both courts for the day. Training sessions to start followed by round robin box competitions, again able to include matches against Cambridge juniors, again Oratory coming out on top. Our day only got better as we were shown to our accommodation at St John’s College Cambridge for the night, looking even more beautiful on a clear sunny day. The evening was spent having a tour round Cambridge and enjoying the sights.
Sunday morning we were treated to a delicious breakfast in the dining room, overlooking St John’s chapel. A perfect start to our last day on tour. We headed on to Newmarket Real Tennis Club, our 5th Real Tennis court for the weekend, for a quick skills competition before making our way back to the Oratory school. Not before one more stop on the way at Holmer Green Padel Club. A brilliant weekend, full of racquets sports and wonderful representation from all the Oratory pupils on tour.
