L6th Form Student retains U19 French Open Real Tennis Title

It's been another successful term for Real Tennis at The Oratory School.

On Sunday 30 March, Archie W. retained the U19 French Open title with victory at Fontainebleau Palace, just outside of Paris.

Archie, who represented the British junior side earlier this season, was in dominant form as he progressed through the draw without dropping a set.

In the final, against Jonah Serotta from Philadelphia, Archie continued his good form, controlling the match with his serve to finish a 6/1 6/4 winner.

There was little rest for the French Open winner who then successfully defended his school championship the following day against Max S. The pair had won the National Schools Doubles Championship in February.

Away from the school, Old Oratorian Nicky Howell, progressed through the Final Eliminator for the World Championship. Howell, the world number 3, is the current Head Professional at the Aitken Tennis Club. Meanwhile, Claire Fahey, Head of Oratory Racquets, retained her Ladies Rackets British Open Doubles title with Tara Lumley at The Queen's Club, London, last weekend. Congratulations all!
