Oratory Rugby Sevens Success for 2024-2025

The Oratory School 1st VII made it two titles in eight days as they produced some scintillating rugby to defeat Wellington College in the Berkshire Sevens final.
Having beaten Rams Federation, RGS Guildford and The Downs in the group stage, Oratory raced into a 19-0 lead before their final opponents had touched the ball, going onto triumph 45-17 with J. Herbert grabbing a brilliant hat-trick.
A. Hector bagged a brace with D. Coker finishing a brilliant team score and M. Hucker collecting the last try.
Victory followed up a fine triumph in the NextPhase 7s at Aylesbury RFC the week before, Hector’s sensational treble helping see off Saracens-affiliated Oaklands College for the silverware.
Delighted Head of Rugby, Mikey Hennessy, says: “We have been very lucky to have an excellent group of boys in our squad, and it has been great to see them play so well and beat some very prestigious rugby schools this term.'
During the season, The Oratory has defeated the Eton College, Harrow, Epsom College, and Wellington in a string of impressive performances.
The season closes at the Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens this week, with The Oratory participating in the Under 18 Boys, U18 Girls, U16 boys and U13 boys’ events.
The Oratory boasts a strong rugby heritage with alumni including England internationals Andy Vilk, Oli Monye, Max Clementson and Wales ace, Morgan MacRae.
