The Oratory wins Turn Cricket Red 2024
The Oratory is delighted to be the winner of The Ruth Strauss Foundation 'Turn Cricket Red 2024' with a superb fundraising tally of £4,843.
Steve Tomlinson, Director of Sport, says "It is fantastic to see The Oratory community coming together and raising such significant funds for a very worthy cause close to our hearts. Being winners and gaining the prize of a coaching session at Lord's for our Oratory students in January with an RSF ambassador is really the icing on the cake. We'd like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in making our event such a success."
The Oratory hosted its ‘Red for Ruth’ ‘Turn Cricket Red’ sporting initiative and charity fundraising event in June, which welcomed Angus Fraser MBE, former England cricketer and trustee of The Ruth Strauss Foundation as Guest Speaker.
In addition to the school’s annual ‘Turn Cricket Red’ sporting fixtures, The school also held an inaugural shopping and summer lunch fundraiser for 120 people, located in a marquee on the Head’s lawn. Once shopping with local stallholders had finished and lunch had been served, Angus Fraser MBE gave his talk on the highlights of his cricketing career and his involvement with The Ruth Strauss Foundation, which supports families facing the death of a parent to cancer and aims to fund more research into non-smoking lung cancers.
