Oratory Racquets Real Tennis East Anglia Tour
During September's Exeat break, students from 2nd, 3rd and 4th Form travelled to East Anglia on the annual Oratory Racquets tour.
Starting at Prested Hall, which hosted the 2022 Real Tennis World Championship, students had the opportunity to play across both of the club's Real Tennis courts alongside being introduced to the game of Padel Tennis and Tennis. This was an excellent start to the trip as everyone developed new skills and adapted to the subtle differences between the various racquet sports.
The following day, students travelled to Cambridge with a more specific Real Tennis focus. Once again, the students were able to play across two courts at the Cambridge University Real Tennis Club and performed well in matches against the Cambridge juniors. While in Cambridge, they were also hosted by the prestigious St. John's College and able to see the sites of the city.
The final day of the tour was spent at Padel Stars near Reading on the way back to school. The club is a month old and boasts impressive indoor and outdoor courts. It was pleasing to see the progress everyone had made over the weekend and the enthusiasm for racquets sports amongst the group.
Claire Fahey, Head of Racquets, says, "This is the third year we have toured over the September Exeat and it is great to see the trip growing in popularity. Playing various forms of racquets sports, from the traditional Real Tennis to the new form of Padel Tennis, is a great way to challenge the students but also to enable them to play sport for the school at an appropriate level while finding a game that works for them."
