The Oratory is delighted to be hosting its second Red for Ruth ‘Turn Cricket Red’ sporting initiative and summer charity lunch on Wednesday 25 June 2025.

This event will build on the success of the school’s inaugural Red for Ruth event of June last year, which raised over £4.5k for The Ruth Strauss Foundation.

The day will run from 10.00am - 4.00pm. It will feature stallholders selling an array of products including clothing, fashion accessories, jewellery, homeware and gifts; Angus Fraser MBE, former England cricketer, as guest speaker from the Ruth Strauss Foundation; and a delicious 2-course lunch in a picturesque marquee on the Headmaster’s lawn. Meanwhile, the backdrop of ‘Turn Cricket Red’ sporting fixtures will be available for all to see, across the school’s 6 cricket pitches, with the traditional match highlight being The Oratory Cricket 1st XI v The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).

The Ruth Strauss Foundation supports families facing the death of a parent to cancer and aims to fund more research into non-smoking lung cancers. It is particularly keen to work with schools, so that the whole community can learn to manage and help prepare children for premature bereavement together. The Oratory was one of the first schools to support the charity when the foundation was started in 2019.
