CCF 110th Anniversary Year - Recent Highlights

The last two weeks have been a busy time for the CCF. In the 110th anniversary year the term is ending on a high.

Two weekends ago, 40 cadets from the army section spent 48 hours out in the field living under Basha’s and eating army rations. They spent the weekend honing their fieldcraft skills leading up to a series of section attacks on an enemy position. This included the use of blank rounds and smoke.

Friday of last week saw our Anniversary dinner held in the Tolkien Room, with our guest of honour Old Oratorian Colonel Tom Bonas (OS 1966-71) who is at present the Regimental Adjutant of the Welsh Guards. Colonel Tom gave a stirring speech about his time at the school, his life in the army and the impact that it has had on his life. Giving some short anecdotes about his work with the Royal family over last 15 years. The dinner was attended by both Cadets, Officers and guests of the contingent. A fantastic evening was had by all.

The following morning some of our RAF section took to the sky and completed a session of gliding at RAF Little Rissington. Please click here for a full write up of a fantastic day.

After half term we continue our busy schedule with a Sailing trip to the Isle of Wight for our Royal navy section, and a Central Camp in Crowborough for our Army section.
