Oratory Rugby success at Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens
Oratory Rugby enjoyed a great week of sevens at Howden Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens in the final week of Lent Term with the U13s winning 4/5 matches and topping their pool - well done to the St Philip House boys!
Victories over Reed’s School, City of London Freemen’s, UCS and Ysgol Caer Elen saw the U13s team just pip Prior Park to top spot. S. Hickling and R. Bowers were impressive with ball in hand and finished the day as top try scorers.
Meanwhile, the U16s once again qualified for Day 2. Having beaten Uffculme School, St. George’s International and Cathedral School, Llandaff to top the pool, the side performed superbly to knock out Eton College in the Elimination Game. This placed The Oratory as one of the final 28 schools from over 220 schools that started the competition.
Earlier in the week, the 1st VII were knocked out in a tight game by Stamford School, the competition winners. Congratulations to all involved. Mikey Hennessy, Head of Rugby, says “This has been a very successful sevens season. For both the 1st VII and U16s to have won competitions and beaten some of the biggest schools in the country, is a great achievement and bodes well for the coming years.”
