The Oratory hosts U10s Prep Schools' Real Tennis Doubles Competition

The Oratory School hosted its annual Under 10s Prep Schools Real Tennis Doubles competition this week.

Featuring 13 pairs across 6 different schools, it was a fun day that saw the players coached by Claire Fahey, the current Ladies Real Tennis World Champion, before going into competition against each other in the afternoon. Mrs Fahey said: “It was great to see the improvement made by all the players throughout the day as they got used to the racket, balls and complexities of the rules. It just showed that Real Tennis is accessible to players of all ages and abilities.”

The final was contested between the all girl team from The Oratory Prep School and St. John’s Beaumont, with the latter ultimately winning a competitive match.

Real Tennis makes up part of The Oratory’s rackets provision alongside squash, tennis, badminton and pickleball. Recently The Oratory hosted the Real Tennis Ladies World Championship while current pupils have won national competitions this year with The Oratory’s top junior invited to the World Junior Championships this summer in France.

Claire Fahey, Head of Oratory Racquets says "It is wonderful to seeing a growing number of schools and students interested in Real Tennis, and it is a privilege to be able to encourage and help them learn this unique sport."
