Oratory Rugby 1st XV Captain G. Whelpton represents U18s Lambs
There has been more success for Oratory students on the rugby field this term as The Oratory’s 1st XV captain, G. Whelpton, has represented the U18s Lambs side
The Lambs exist to create openings for boys to showcase their rugby skills at a representative level and is made up of some of the best players across the independent schools sector.
Whelpton, a weekly boarder at the school has so far been selected for fixtures against Ealing Academy and Coventry Academy, starting at Number 8 against Coventry. He says “I have really enjoyed the Lambs process, from the initial trial through to selection for the side. It has been great to test myself with and against some excellent players and to represent The Oratory whilst playing for The Lambs.”
Mikey Hennessy. Head of Rugby, says "Whelpton has done an excellent job captaining our 1st XV team this year and it is wonderful to see the recognition he is getting with The Lambs. We have a strong tradition of boys being selected to play representative rugby, particularly with The Lambs, and I am sure Whelpton will continue to perform strongly for the side."
