The Oratory Supports Red Wednesday

This Wednesday 22 November, The Oratory has been supporting and raising awareness for Red Wednesday by the charity Aid to the Church in Need.

Red Wednesday is an annual initiative that aims to highlight the daily suffering, oppression, violence, torture, and death endured by Christians around the world.

Oratory staff and pupils have been wearing red, decorating boarding houses in red and have organised a fundraising sale with cakes, biscuits, other red confectionary items and red wristbands to help those in need.

Pupils have also been talking in assembly with Oratory Chaplaincy about this year's theme, 'Break the Silence'. They have focused on what it means, what they will do and what this impact will be. Tutor time has followed up on this theme.

  • £25 will help provide trauma counselling for children and adults emotionally scarred by what they have lived through.
  • £45 will help a Sister to provide care and spiritual support for families in huge distress.
  • £100 will help with emergency relief – food, water and shelter – for those escaping violence.
